A Komati Foundation Project
The New Forestown Study Centre: When the activities commenced in 1999, the Centre was located in a rented house in a suburb of Johannesburg (South Africa's largest city and commercial centre). In the light of a growing number of participants in the Centre's programs, the directors of Komati Foundation were obliged to look for more spacious facilities that would be more suitable, closer to universities, and with better links to public transportation routes.
At present, as a temporary arrangement, the activities of the Centre are carried out at a rented house in the Zoo Lake area, near the University of the Witwatersrand and Rand Afrikaans University. Over the medium term, the Komati Foundation recognises that a new centre needs to be established, with the appropriate facilities. However, we are entirely reliant on donations and cannot launch this project until more pressing needs are met - or we are able to secure a large sponsorship.
It is envisaged that the new premises will be able to welcome a greater number of participants and provide a small hall of residence for those university students who, besides participating in the leadership programs, also wish to dedicate their time and energy to social projects.
